TAHRY

Privacy Policy

What we know, and what we never show.

You should feel safe sharing your everyday life here. That only works if what TAHRY knows about you stays small and is used for one purpose: helping people share their days. This policy explains what we collect, why, who can see what, and the choices you have.

Updated 19 October 2026

In short

  1. We collect only what you give us by using the app.
  2. We don't sell your data, and there are no ads.
  3. Your birthday and location are never shown to anyone.
  4. Nobody can see who viewed their moments, or how many did.
  5. Delete your moments, or your whole account, any time.

1What we collect

Everything here comes from you using the app. Nothing is bought from third parties, and nothing is read from your device unless you do something.

InformationWhy
Email address and passwordSigning you in. Your email is confirmed with a one-time code when you sign up. Your password is stored only in scrambled (hashed) form, never readable by anyone, including us.
Name, photo and the line about youYour profile, so people can recognise and find you.
Date of birthChecking you're 13 or older. Never shown to anyone.
Country, city and regionShowing you more moments from people nearby. Never shown. See section 5.
TimezoneTiming your daily check-in to your day, and as a fallback for nearby moments if you haven't set a location.
Moments and captionsThe photos, videos and captions you post, with the audience you chose.
Comments, replies and reactionsWhat you leave on moments.
Which moments you've seenShowing you moments you haven't seen yet, instead of repeats. Never shown to anyone.
Friendships and blocksWho you're friends with, and who you've chosen not to interact with.
Your settingsNotification choices, recap visibility and similar preferences.
NotificationsThe in-app list of what's happened on your moments and friendships, until you clear it.
Reports and appealsReviewing behaviour that breaks the rules.
Feedback you sendRead by the TAHRY team to improve the app.

The people you've recently looked at in Search are remembered only on your own device, never on our servers.

2How we use it

  • Running the app: signing you in, showing feeds and profiles, sending notifications.
  • Deciding what to show in the main feed: moments from the part of the day they were shared in, people near you, and a fair first audience for someone's very first moment. Never popularity. Reactions, comments and how many people saw a moment are never used to rank anything.
  • Showing moments from friends you haven't seen yet before ones you have.
  • Checking the 13-and-over minimum before an account is created.
  • Reviewing reports and acting on accounts that break the rules.
  • Reading feedback to decide what to build or fix next.

3Who can see what

WhatWho can see it
Your name, photo and the line about youAnyone signed in to TAHRY, including through Search, except people you've blocked or who've blocked you.
A momentThe audience you chose when you posted it: Everyone (anyone on TAHRY) or Friends.
Your past daysWhoever your recap setting allows: Everyone, Friends or Only me.
Your commentsAnyone who can see the moment they're on.
Your reactionYou and the moment's author. Reactions are never shown as a public count.
Your friendshipsOnly the two people in each friendship. Nobody can browse your friends list.
Birthday, location, email and what you've seenNo one.

4What we never do

  • Sell, rent or trade your personal data
  • Show ads, or target anything at you
  • Show your location or birthday to anyone
  • Show anyone who viewed their moments, or how many people did
  • Rank people or moments by popularity

5Location, specifically

You pick your country from a list and type your city. TAHRY never uses GPS and never works out your location automatically.

These answers are stored so they can't be read back through any normal profile lookup, by anyone. Only two things can read them: your own Settings screen, so you can see and change your answer, and the feed, privately deciding who counts as near whom. They're never part of your profile, your moments, your comments or any notification.

6Who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers who process data for us, under their own obligations to keep it secure:

  • Supabase runs our database, sign-in and file storage. Almost everything in section 1 is stored there.
  • OneSignal delivers push notifications. It receives your TAHRY account ID, your device's push token, and the text of each notification it delivers, for example "Ada commented on your moment". It doesn't receive your photos, videos or captions.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of people on TAHRY.

7Where it's stored

TAHRY's data is hosted on Supabase's cloud infrastructure. The hosting region isn't yet a disclosed commitment and may change as TAHRY grows.

8A known limitation

The photo or video behind a moment is stored at a direct link. TAHRY only gives that link to people your audience choice allows. The link itself isn't individually locked, though, so someone who got the exact link outside the app could open the file, even for a Friends moment. We'd rather tell you this plainly than overstate what those settings guarantee.

9Your choices

  • Edit your name, photo and the line about you at any time.
  • Choose each moment's audience: Everyone or Friends.
  • Choose who can browse your recap: Everyone, Friends or Only me.
  • Change your country and city in Settings. It only affects what you see from then on.
  • Turn each kind of notification on or off, and clear your notifications.
  • Block or report anyone.
  • Delete any of your moments or comments, and comments others left on your moments.
  • Delete your account.

10How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as your account exists, so your profile and history are there when you come back. When you delete a moment or comment, it's removed. When you delete your account, your profile, moments, comments, friendships and the underlying files are permanently removed.

Deleted information may remain for a limited time in routine backups before they're overwritten. Reports about serious misconduct may be kept for as long as needed to keep TAHRY safe.

11Your rights

You can see, change and delete most of your information directly in the app. You can also ask us for a copy of your information, ask us to correct it, or ask how it's used, through Contact & Help in the app. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under local law, and we'll respect them.

12Children

TAHRY is not for anyone under 13. We check date of birth at sign-up and don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 is using TAHRY, please tell us through Contact & Help.

13Security

We use reasonable technical measures to protect your information, including database rules that control exactly who can read each piece of data. No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee against every possible breach.

14International transfer

Your information may be stored and processed in a country other than the one you live in. By using TAHRY, you understand it may be transferred there.

15Where we stand, regulatorily

TAHRY is an early-stage, independently run product. We haven't yet registered with a data protection authority, such as Nigeria's NDPC, and don't yet have a dedicated Data Protection Officer. We intend to pursue the right registrations as TAHRY grows, and we'll update this section when we do.

16Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as TAHRY changes, and we'll update the date at the top when we do. For significant changes, we'll aim to tell you in the app. Continuing to use TAHRY after a change means you accept the updated policy.

17Contact

Questions about this policy, or requests about your data, can be sent through Contact & Help in the app. A dedicated email address will be listed here once it exists.
